Probably just a plain webcam to prevent theft. Maybe we can get a cheap ugly one
that records frames fast enough that it won't matter. Then again we could also
pick up a decent one, make it look shitty enough that noone will want to steal
it. Or we could have a decent one and attach a 500 pound weight to it so that
noone could physically carry it out of the performance space without making a
scene. Then again, maybe it'd be cool if we had a rig so that people could bring
in their own and just attach it to the machine...

I played with the video4linux. Its pretty easy to use with mencoder at least.
I've used it in the past to capture security videos (physical)...

Probably not. The idea I had was to store to a hard drive, compress to around
1.5 hrs = 600-700MB mp4 then push off to the server in the dead of the night...

Users could look at the video the next day...
