[dc401-l] RFID tagging in RI

I love how the ACLU has an argument that children's privacy rights are
being violated. Children + privacy = a Dateline who-dunnit special. But
seriously, the implementation sounds horrific. A better idea would be an
RFID ID tag (most schools require visible, standardized nametags
already). That can be used to moniotor them in the school. The school
has a responsibility to monitor kids in school and since some of these
public schools are so huge, RFID seems like a reasonable strategy to
track who is on campus, or when they get off campus.
Just my .0049 gallon of gas's worth.

Subject: [dc401-l] RFID tagging in RI

I figure most folks remember the stink that was raised when a local
school district talked about tagging students with RFID chips to keep
track of them. Well.. looks like it is back! Anyone have any info on the
implementation, vendors, or any other way they are going to pull this
off?
