I'll also be out of town and won't be able to make it. I recommend y'all play PowerPoint Karaoke. There's even a handy web app on SlideShare that handles finding and randomizing the slide decks. http://www.slidesharetoys.com/karaoke/ Have fun and I'll see you all next month. /ducksauz From matt at hackistan.us Mon Mar 2 20:57:58 2009 From: matt at hackistan.us (Matt Bell) Date: Mon, 02 Mar 2009 20:57:58 -0500 Subject: [dc401-l] Shameless spam, but involves beer! Message-ID: <49AC8EA6.60801@hackistan.us> All, As some of you know, my friend Pat Griffin, owner of Patrick's Pub was hit with a very large lawsuit from ASCAP; a copyright organization. His crime? Allowing bands to come into his pub and play live music of *cover tunes*. That's right.. cover tunes. It turns out that if you let a band come into your business and croon a cover of a copyrighted band, the *owner* can be sued.. not the band! I encouraged Patrick to fight this and even hoped to invoke the EFF, however he has a business to run and wanted to get live music back in to keep revenue up so he settled and payed them their shake-down money for "licensing"... and the right to have bands cover other songs. To help recover from the hit he took on his lawsuit and to celebrate 17 years in business he is holding a fund-raiser this Thursday (5th) night. All are welcome, there will be food and live music. Contact me for tickets, they are "donation priced".. you pay what you want to donate for the cover! If you are interested in coming out for beer, food, music, and to support a good cause please let me know between now and then and I can get you a ticket, or call me that night (870-761-3137) between 7:30 and 11:00 pm and I can get you a ticket. Thanks, Matt (And Dennis: I hear Mayor Buddy is going to be there!) With this hardware you can intercept DECT communications where encryption is optional, including cordless phones.
